AGED GRUYERE OF CRETE PACKAGED STEIAKAKIS
Origin: PDO of Crete
Characteristics: The aged gruyere and the aged gruyere with local thyme are the separate products of the Steiakakis cheese factory. The milk comes from selected sheep and goats, which graze in the plains of Messara. The "cheese", as they say the gruyere in Crete, is made by 90% from sheep's milk and 10% goat's milk. It comes from animals that graze freely in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of Crete, which feed on the rich in nutrients, flora of the island.
Flavor: Rich spicy buttery flavor that highlights the aromas if you leave it out of the fridge for a while before serving.
Aging: The gruyere is aged in the facilities of the cheese factory.
Packaging: It is cut into pre-weighed pieces of 220-330gr in an airtight package. Can be stored for a very long time in the refrigerator and kept during transport and out of the refrigerator for several hours.
Accompanies: Along with bread, or breadsticks, or plain accompanies aged red wines or fatty white wines. It goes perfectly with hot jam (Spicy Jam) in wine tastings. Excellent with spaghetti instead of Italian aged parmesan.
