Characteristics: Made from 80% Zinfandel and 20% Sangiovese from Mendocino and Pauli Ranch vineyards on the North Coast of California. The wine matured for 10 months in oak barrels (90% French and 10% American).
Tasting: Deep purple in appearance. Rich aromatic character with aromas of ripe red fruits, plum, black and red cherry, red and black raspberry, sour cherry. In addition to the ripe fruit, the sweet aromas resulting from the wine's stay in the barrel are strong, acquiring aromas reminiscent of cinnamon, coconut, vanilla and chocolate. Equally exuberant, full bodied, medium tannins, subtle acidity, high alcohol and rich in the mouth. Ripe red and black fruit flavors dominate along with hints of spice, cocoa, chocolate and leather notes.
Accompaniment: Perfect with pot roast beef, pasta with meats, BBQ, grilled meats, rib eye, Black Angus, lamb chops, mature cheeses.
Served: Ideally served at 16-18°C.
